Privacy Policy
Last updated November 2, 2026
This policy explains what personal information Cabindar handles, why, and what rights you have. It applies to everyone who uses Cabindar, including members who have been invited to a cabin and people who receive an invitation.
1. Who we are
Cabindar is provided by Ositos AS, organization number 928 535 282, Vegårveien 30, 4879 Grimstad, Norway. We are responsible for the personal information in Cabindar. Questions about privacy go to support@cabindar.com.
2. What we collect, and why
Your account. Email address, first name, last name, display name and your choice of units. Your password is handled by the sign-in service, and we never see it. We use this to give you an account and show the others in the cabin who has booked.
Your cabins. Which cabins you belong to and your role, bookings, the grocery list and to-dos. If an admin has added the cabin’s address or location, we store it to show the weather forecast. Members of a cabin can see each other’s names and email addresses and what the others add.
Invitations. When an admin invites someone to a cabin, we store the email address, the role, who sent the invitation and when, and send an email with the invitation. We only use the address for the invitation.
Subscription and payment. The status of the subscription, who started it, and references to the payment at our payment provider. When you pay, you give your name, email address and billing address, which we use to calculate sales tax and issue receipts. We never see your card details. We keep accounting records as long as the law requires.
Running the service. When you use Cabindar, our servers process your IP address and information about your browser to deliver the site and stop misuse. This only ends up in short-lived logs. We have an internal tool for customer service, where we can see accounts, the cabins they belong to and their role, invitations and subscriptions. Bookings and lists are not shown there. Every change we make to an account or a cabin is logged.
Statistics and visits. We count users, cabins and subscriptions, and count visits to the website with a privacy-friendly analytics tool that uses no cookies and doesn’t store your IP address. We only see totals, such as the number of visits, pages, country and device type.
We don’t show ads, we don’t track you across other websites, and we don’t sell or share your personal information for advertising.
3. Cookies and storage in your browser
We only store what Cabindar needs to work, so we don’t ask for consent. This is what we store:
bestebu_signed_in(cookie): tells us you are signed in, so you go straight to your cabin. It contains no information about you. Lasts 30 days and is deleted when you sign out.units(cookie): remembers whether you want the forecast in °F or °C. Lasts one year.- Sign-in (browser database): keeps you signed in until you sign out.
- Invitation (session storage): keeps the invitation while you sign up. Deleted when you close the tab.
When you pay, the payment provider’s own page opens. It has its own cookies.
4. Service providers
These providers process information on our behalf, under agreements with us:
- Google Firebase: database and sign-in. The database is located in Stockholm, Sweden.
- Vercel: hosting of the website and anonymous visit counts. The servers that run Cabindar are in Stockholm, Sweden.
- Mailtrap: sending email, such as invitations.
- Stripe: payment by card, Apple Pay and Google Pay, and sales tax.
Stripe also processes some information as an independent controller, for example to prevent fraud. Read more in Stripe’s privacy policy.
When an admin searches for the cabin’s address, the search goes from the browser to Photon, a search service built on OpenStreetMap. We get the weather forecast from the Norwegian Meteorological Institute through our servers, using the cabin’s coordinates. Neither of them gets information about you from us.
Because we are a Norwegian company, your information is stored and processed in Europe and in the United States, protected by the EU General Data Protection Regulation and our agreements with the providers.
5. How long we keep information
We keep your information as long as you have an account. You can delete your account yourself on the profile page. You are then removed from your cabins, and upcoming bookings you have made are deleted. Cabins where you are the only member are deleted with their bookings, lists and invitations. Past bookings and what you have added to the lists stay with the other members under your display name.
Subscription and payment records are kept as long as accounting law requires, also after the account is deleted. Server logs are deleted automatically after a short time. The log of changes we make to accounts and cabins is kept for two years.
6. Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to
- tell you what information we have about you, and give you a copy
- correct information that is wrong. You can change your name yourself on the profile page.
- delete your information
- limit how we use it, or stop using it for an invitation you didn’t want
Write to support@cabindar.com, and we will answer within 30 days. We won’t treat you differently for using these rights. If you live in a state with its own privacy law, such as California, you have these rights under that law as well.
7. Children
Cabindar is not meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, write to us and we will delete it.
8. Changes
We update this policy when we change how we handle personal information. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. We email you about significant changes.
